About

The person behind DataTek.

I'm Mike Robbins — a NetSuite developer based in Rockford, IL. I've spent over a decade writing SuiteScript, wiring up integrations, and living in the corners of the platform most people never open. DataTek Software is where that work — and the writing about it — lives.

Background

From IT Director to NetSuite developer.

My career started in traditional IT — desktop support, network engineering, systems administration. I served in the Navy from 1982–1996, installing NetWare networks at Southern California Naval installations.

After that, I moved into leadership as Director of IT for a gaming company, overseeing 12 team members, 150+ servers, 250 workstations, and 4,000 desktop PCs across North America.

In 2009 I led a NetSuite implementation that consolidated two CRM systems and one ERP into a single cloud platform. That project changed my trajectory — I transitioned to full-time JavaScript development and NetSuite administration in 2012, and haven't looked back.

Core technologies

  • JavaScript & SuiteScript development
  • NetSuite administration & customization
  • React & Laravel development
  • PHP & web applications

Infrastructure

  • Network & systems engineering
  • Windows, Linux, Solaris
  • VMware & Cisco technologies

Approach

I build it like I own it.

Everything I build gets the same attention to performance, maintainability, and scalability — whether it's a one-off script or a product like SuiteCollector. The blog holds what I learn along the way: SuiteScript patterns, platform quirks, and the occasional hard-won lesson.
